Red in Tooth and Claw

I was enjoying watching nature in the early mornings - even getting to recognise some of the birds ! I was forgetting that some of the animals don't subscribe to the "live and let live" theory. One of my deliveries takes me to a dealer in fancy birds, chickens, pheasants etc, which he keeps in pens in his large garden. This morning he was out surrounded by large piles of feathers and smashed pens. It would appear that a fox had got in and not just decimated the birds, but killed the lot ! He tries his best to keep the pens fox proof, but sometimes the fox wins ! This was one of them. He killed at least a dozen birds - one of which would have been enough to feed him - if he was just hungry ! Ah well - nature is, as they say
