Bowling

Today, I am bowling. We belong to Carterton Bowls club and are still "indoors". This means a very flat carpet and florescent lights. It should be boring as the bowls run true and theoretically, should behave the same every time. But as you know, if you watch the bowling on the TV you will know that even the "pros" can’t get it right all the time – So its quite a contemplative sport. I can see the attraction that it had to Sir Francis Drake who made the bastards wait whilst he finished his game on the Hoe ! I belong to a three person team and we bowl against another team on Friday afternoons . No Curry delivering tonight so I can enjoy it, and watch the bowls running true and in the gentle curve that they are designed to do – whether they hit the "jack" (the small yellow ball we aim at) is another thing !
